Size the supply cable, MCB type and isolation for an air-source heat pump, including starting current and optional immersion booster.
A heat pump is sized from its electrical input rating, not its heat output. The compressor draws a large starting (locked-rotor) current, so a Type C MCB is normally used to avoid nuisance tripping. Larger units may exceed a single-phase supply and need a three-phase supply or a DNO upgrade.
Fit an isolator within sight of the outdoor unit and check the manufacturer's RCD requirement (Type A minimum, Type B for some inverter drives).
